An interest in art and design developed during my childhood working within the family antique business on the King Road, Chelsea (The Furniture Cave). At 18 I opened my own shop there selling vintage clothing later moving onto the Fulham Road for further 14 years. During this time the family business developed and George Smith Ltd was formed specialising in traditional hand made furniture and textiles. My role within this business was to assist in establishing the textile side of the company. Some patterns such as ‘Pow Wow’ I designed from scratch: others, for example, Gollut, I reworked from vintage, often French, designs. I also designed and supplied a unique range of cushions.
Since George Smith Ltd was sold I have exclusively traded from my Showroom in Wandsworth supplying hand built furniture, cushions and textiles. Subsequently I have pursued my passion for the Arts and achieved a BA in Fine Art and Design and a Masters Degree in Sculpture.
